Ronda and the Inquisition

Ronda and the Inquisition
By john
Leaving Sevilla our next destination was Ronda where there is a magnificent bridge and lower key processions than Sevilla.
We are now ready for a big wash so the campsite at Ronda seemed ideal . So off we go but on arriving in town we where cought up in the procession …road closures and a satnav not helping. We managed to get out of town and found the camp site BUT at check in we found it was €23 a night plus wifi electric and washing machines so no electric was the decision.
Washing done and pegged out for overnight drying on our line . We then headed for the bar for a 5 tapas combo and beer each ..very nice it was too . Then bed and slept like logs.
Friday dawned bright and sunny ,washing nearly dry and a relaxing morning I thought so out with the awning which then broke. So out with the tools and a couple of hours later it was fixed but I don’t know what did the trick but gears reassembled …all was ok.
At 18:00 we walked down into town to look at the bridge bloody fantastic..This town of Ronda is where the Spanish Inquisition was founded .. The bridge being use as a bit of a torture point .. Conform or we chuck you off .. Lots were throw down the 100m to their deaths .. Same in the Spanish Civil war if you were on the wrong side over you went ..

We waited near the bridge for the procession (the best of all we have seen)

Me now …still Friday ..messing around with a very bad wifi connection and who popped in but my long time school friend Christine Sunderland nee Quantrill to say she and her husband David (my cousin once or twice removed and I was the guilty party who introduced them 54 years ago .. Three sons 7 grandchildren later they are still going strong )
I know they have a hill side retreat in Spain and had been invited to go to stay in the past but time and tide . I never got there ..
As we were driving the same day I said to J those villages are what I think C&D will be like perched high in the hills and with in a couple of hours her massages came in .. Now how weird is that as we Havnt spoken for about 3 years
We arranged to meet on saturday on our way to Granada and go for supper
The village road is far to steep to get an over weight Hetty up and they kindly came down and off we went up and up and up

And this is a google earth of the farm house ….can you see the track in the hills … Eeeeek!!! As I said up and up…..
