Slept like a log till morning when another or shall we call it the Last Breakfast of the English variety was consumed
Docked at 12noon in Santander
We sneaked past the large stink boat to get off the ferry and were routed around the docks by several yellow jacketed guys to the passport control. This was a very brief perusal then we where on our way .The dock area was much bigger than expected and it took ages to get to the road. Susan slightly discomforted when I overtook a lorry slightly more so when the lorry soon re-passed us on the dual carriageway.
This dual carriageway was exited after a short while and we where on a decent N Road climbing and weaving through lovely villages. We passed several good opportunities to wild camp at points where road improvements had left decent lay-bys we stopped at one only to discover we where now at 2500ft and still climbing. We drove for quite a while at this level then dropped to 2000ft and stopped at a hamlet at a gorge/bridge. We strolled around what was a lovely place(photos). We continued on our way still climbing achieving over 3000 ft the road then dropped sharply and we saw our potential first night stop at a camp site on the opposite side of a large lake (would eat 4 Windermere’s but progress was so good over the high Sierra that we decided to carry on to look at Burgos.
